It was Sunday afternoon. Monte was reformatting my laptop computer in our third-floor office, and I was taking a much-needed nap on the second floor. Down on the first floor, Natalia was doing what she does best: entertaining herself by making art.
After I woke up, she padded into our room, called upstairs to Papa to come down, and presented us with this card. On the front and back is a collection of Disney Princess stickers, but obviously we cared more about what was inside: "I love you Mum and Papa." She wrote it all herself, with no coaching. Every time I look at it, I get a lump in my throat and breathe a prayer of thanks for her sweet presence in our lives.
Remembering back to her newborn days (which, forgive me, I cannot help doing, now that I'm little more than a month away from having another newborn in the house) it just amazes me how far we've all come. It gives me hope that we'll survive that crazy time again, and one day in the not-too-distant future, we'll have TWO daughters writing us love notes. Amazing!
