Heléna is three months old today! Gone are the frustrating early-morning colic spells, and here to stay are the coos and smiles! The girl has mastered the art of sleeping long stretches at night (usually from 9-4 and again from 4:30 - 8) but still prefers to nap on the run (mostly attached to me, in the sling). She's very bright-eyed and has lost that newborn "blob" quality. She holds her head up well, is discovering her hands, and enjoys having conversations with anyone who'll talk to her. See the photo links, top left, for the latest pictures.
Natalia's last day of school is fast approaching (7/23) and we're gearing up for a long visit to the USA, leaving 8/8 and returning 9/7. Two big reasons for our visit: Introduce Heléna to her extended family, and celebrate with great intensity the wedding of Monte's sister, Jennie, on 9/6. Our MIT friends the Andersons are celebrating 10 years of wedded bliss in Texas on 8/31, so Monte and I may take a weekend away from the kids to visit Austin.
In other news, we're house hunting. It looks as if our lease at 28 Onslow Avenue won't be renewed in November, so we're on the lookout for a large family house with parking and a garden -- not an easy order to fill, given the current market conditions and the small size of Richmond. We want to stay within walking distance of Natalia's school if possible. Our current house is looking lovelier by the day. If you have a Flickr account and I've identified you as a Friend or Family, you can take a photo tour of the houses we're looking at. Wish us luck!
