We celebrated Monte's birthday and his recent sales achievement by running away to southwestern Wales for the weekend of July 27. Yay Monte -- he sold seven 737's to Ukraine's AeroSvit Airlines! He turned another year older on 7/27/07. He rocks! (And look at all those lucky 7's!)
We stayed at a beautiful old abbey built in the 1830's with a view of the sea. We spent a windy day on the beach, and Natalia was none too reluctant to splash around in the icy waves and eat a big messy ice cream bar. We stayed in Penally, near the town of Tenby -- which is a lovely old village worth another visit. It has beautiful, pastel-colored hotels on the seafront and lots of pedestrian traffic within the gates of its old walls. It seemed really family-friendly, too. Even though everyone from the U.K. is on their summer holidays, the beach was uncrowded and gave us a little taste of home. It's surprising how much one misses the salty air after moving inland.
Wales is nice. We'll go back someday. If you want to see photos, click the newest link, top left.
