No, that's not a typo -- it's the way the Frazier name was spelled once upon a time, when their home was the Scottish Highlands and there was always haggis for dinner. We're talking hundreds of years ago, people. Monte traced his family's heritage back 25 generations, to the area of the Loch Ness Monster, and we decided to explore the territory in a big, happy group of siblings and in-laws and cousins.
Jennie and Brian (Monte's sister and brother, pictured left -- eating haggis) arrived in late May, along with Brian's wife Becky and their lovely daughter Katie. We found a large vacation house in Nethy Bridge, Scotland, and made it our home from June 2-9. We rode horses. We toured some whisky distilleries. We tried to find Fraser ancestors in old churchyards. We ate a lot of snacks. We took naps. We jumped on a trampoline daily. We looked for, but did not find, Nessie. We saw a number of Scottish castles -- one of them with our name on it. Unfortunately we arrived too late and couldn't take a tour of Castle Fraser, but we did have fun playing in its yard. Beaucoup photos are posted on Flickr -- take a look at the June 2007 link above left.
Next up: Jeana and Natalia visit the homeland, including stops in Chicago, Nebraska, and Seattle. Woot!
